The Phoenix Dies

Getting Around

I had a good cycle around today , in aid of my Diet ! Here are some photo's of 2 Bygone factories, and the phoenix market. The Still Standing Factory is Cabot which was THE firm to work for, paying top money. The desolate site is where Woodmet Anodizing used to stand.

Lyndhurst update #1

Well the wood covering the front door was being removed as I took the kids to school. I returned just now,and they have appeared to be putting in a new door frame , and they were strimming the garden ! There are gaping holes in the roof, and they are tidying the garden !!

There Goes The Neighbourhood!

All I can say about this,is that a few weeks ago,I saw a brand new Rolls Royce causing a hazard outside Lyndhurst. The car contained 2 asian businessmen. Then another car arrived , and more Asian well dreesed men got out,and they all engaged in coversation. I have just searched TMBCs planning applications, and can find nothing about it,but apparently permission has been granted to turn the building into a Mosque !

As these pictures show , this fencing has gone up today, effectivley creating a building site. I will take photos daily ,to reflect any changes.

Tameside Theatre

Seven Stars

Hurst Knoll

Hi There From Ashton

Hi everybody , I am not Ashton born and bred , but have lived here for over 12 years now , and just like Glossop where I do come from is changing rapidly,so it is here, and I have decided to document in pictures the changing face of Tameside, mainly by reading the planning applications in the local press. The future of a few places hang in the balance at the moment ,the marvelous Tameside Theatre, several public houses and schools. Here are a few pictures of the Seven Stars public house, which is about to be demolished and replaced by 2 houses and 2 flats , if planning is granted. Also a few pictures of our kids school, hurst knoll, which is currently going through "consultation" regarding amalgamating with St James school, if approved , Hurst Knoll will be demolished and a new larger school built on the site.
I would welcome any input from any local people,to comment or recommend pictures I should be taking , or pictures you would like to see on here.
You can contact me directly at chriskaraokeman@hotmail.com , or just post a comment on here.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my site !
